Blood on the boobtube (WARNING: Very violent)

Folks, what I am about to show you really did happen. What you will see is extremely graphic and horrifying. You should be over the age of eighteen and be prepared to see a lot of blood. This post is voluntarily rated R18+ for that reason. Now…onto the main point of the post…

I found this gory yet fascinating gem of television history online today. It comes from Philadelphia’s WPVI-6 (we think), and it’s the January 22 1987 suicide of former Philadelphia treasurer Budd Dwyer. Some stations freeze framed it and allowed the audio to continue, WPVI let it run, and I think this is where the footage comes from. Not for the faint of the heart. Watch the video by clicking below. Frankster does it again!

Frankster has once again outdone himself with the A/V goodness he uploads to his blog.

I strongly advise you to visit his site, and in particular, download the three commercial/program/station ID medleys he’s just done.

And to whet your appetite, with his kind blessing, here’s a preview of one of the medleys. Enjoy!

Yes, it’s a closedown. And more to the point, it’s a Prime Television closedown from the early 1990s. So sue me!

Sexy yet odd

I found this interesting gem from AussieCelebs‘ forums tonight - it’s the bog standard Big Brother “housemate-in-a-bikini” shot, this time of the very well endowed Bianca.

While I love a good bikini shot like any red-blooded male, the glasses and the boobs seem to clash in my eyes…I don’t know why!

Giving Last.fm one Last.try

Yes, it’s a bad joke. Go jump in the lake if you don’t like it…

I’ve decided to give Last.fm one last go, and to my surprise, it does work rather well this time!

My user page is at http://www.last.fm/user/knightjetman/.

And yes, it does mean I’ve left MOG. It was good, but I didn’t like how it had to go through your entire collection before it started to work properly. Kudos to them for the painless account deletion process.

An online dilemma

Currently, I am using free hosting at Frihost.net, whom I do thank for graciously allowing me to host this blog for free, but lately it’s been giving me grief - namely because of some of the restrictions they’ve placed on what can and cannot be done on their servers.

This morning, I wanted to install the Friendfeed activity widget for Wordpress, thereby removing a few of the widgets I have on the right hand side of the page. Unfortunately for me, it requires the cURL functions of PHP5 to be enabled. Something Frihost will not allow at all, as they believe the cURL functions are likely to be abused and bring their servers down. Now, while that is a valid concern, most of us would like to get our pages working to the full extent of how we see fit.

So…that leads me to the big question - do I stay on a free service, or actually pay for webhosting. Now, Jumba’s personal packages sound perfectly priced to me, and they are Australian-based, so it’s keeping someone employed locally, which is always a good thing. $29.95 for 500MB and 5GB of traffic is what I’m aiming at, as I don’t think people are going to flock here in vast numbers.

Next dilemma - do I pay for the webhosting, or do I go the Knights v Roosters game this Sunday? I really want to get out of the house for a day and have a day to myself, but as most people are aware, it can be expensive (although, to my credit, I don’t think I spent more than $50 for the whole day the last time I went to a Knights game). Oh what to do, what to do!!!

New Queensland Dam

Here’s a funny joke from the NSW Blues will smash the girly coloured QLD in State of Origin Facebook group…and yes, I believe they will smash those pesky Maroons in Sydney come game 3. Enjoy!

Three guys - a Tasmanian, a Queenslander and a New South Welshman - are out walking along the beach together one day.

They come across a lantern and a genie pops out of it. “I will give you each one wish, that’s three wishes total”, says the genie.

The Tasmanian says, “I am a fisherman, my Dad’s a fisherman, his Dad was a fisherman and my son will be one too. I want all the oceans full of fish for all eternity.” With a blink of the genie’s eye, ‘FOOM’ the oceans were teaming with fish.

The Queenslander was amazed, so he said, “I want a wall around QLD , so that we can run our own State how we feel, and no half wit southerner can tell us what to do. I want it so nothing and no-one will get in for all eternity.” Again, with a blink of the genie’s eye, ‘POOF’ there was a huge wall around QLD .

The New South Welshman asks, “I’m very curious. Please tell me more about this wall.” The genie explains, “Well, it’s about 150 feet high, 50 feet thick and nothing can get in or out.”

“Right” the New South Welshman says, “Fill it up with water.”

Paul pisses off…or does he?

McCains last rival drops White House bid (from ABC News)

Now the Internet can get back to normal…although I don’t like the idea of his ongoing campaign for liberty. Sounds like his supporters’ last desperate ploy to remain a pain in the arse.

He was no hope of getting the Republican nomination. When you can count delegates only in double digits, you have a huge battle in front of you.

Folks - can I give you a hint? The future for the freedom of the Internet should not rest with someone who is likely to die within the next decade. Try a 30-40 year old, rather an a 72 year old who should be close to retirement.

Ronald’s coming to Scone

Scone McDonalds (from Hunter Valley Newsroom/2NM 981)

They’ve been talking about getting a McDonalds in Scone for years now, and finally it’s happening.

It will be on the outskirts of town though, so it will more than likely aim for the travellers (as will the Red Rooster and petrol station) rather than townsfolk I’d imagine. At least it’ll bring more jobs into the town, so that can only be a good thing.
